Civil Law
Civil law seeks to resolve non-criminal disputes between the aggrieved parties. Most civil cases involve disputes related to breach of contract, the collection of a debt, monetary compensation for personal injuries, property damage, or family law issues such as divorce. The function of civil law is to provide a legal remedy, either a monetary compensation or an injunction, to resolve a dispute.
